The Vocative case of nouns is used to address people. It is mainly formed with animate nouns and names of people.
Only masculine and feminine nouns in the singular are used to form the Vocative case. Otherwise the Nominative case is used.

For example/наприклад:
студент - студенте
Іван - Іване
Михайло - Михайле
Василь - Василю
Андрій - Андрію
Feminine nouns with the ending "-а" (or hard stem nouns) change them to "-o", and nouns with the ending "-я" (or soft stem nouns) change them to "-є" or "-ю".
For example/наприклад:
Оксана - Оксано
Віра - Віро
Марія - Маріє
Оля - Олю
